FeaturesRoute
The link survives the install
Someone without your app taps a link, installs the app from the store, and opens it. Deferred deep linking is what makes that first launch land on the invite, product or article they tapped, instead of the home screen. It is included on every plan, including Free.
How it works
- 01
The tap leaves a short-lived note
The tap reaches DL2App, which sends the visitor to the store and keeps a note of the tap for a short window.
- 02
The first launch asks
On first launch, the SDK asks DL2App whether this install came from a tap.
- 03
A confident match is delivered once
The SDK delivers the link to your code with
source: "deferred", exactly once.
What is included
- Android: exact matching through the Play Install Referrer, for up to 7 days after the tap.
- iOS: a short-window match on the same network, by operating-system version, screen size, language and time zone, with a confidence score.
- iOS, opt-in: an exact clipboard hand-off that only runs when the user taps a paste button in your app.
- Every install record carries the method used and, for estimates, the confidence. Both are in the dashboard and in the
app.installedwebhook. - A window you set per project, from 15 minutes to 24 hours.
Where it stops
- We do not quote a match rate. Nobody has measured one independently, and it depends on your audience.
- iOS matching degrades when the address changes between the tap and the first launch: VPNs, iCloud Private Relay, or a switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- When two recent taps look alike, the answer is no match. Opening someone else’s invite is worse than opening the home screen.
- Not available when self-hosting from the export bundle.
- Treat it as a bonus, not a guarantee: if the link carries an invite code, also show a way to enter it by hand.
The detail
Start with one link
The free plan has no time limit and needs no card. Create a project, add your app, and send yourself the link.
