Build campaign links for web and both stores

Fill in the campaign once. You get a tagged web address, a Google Play link that carries the tags through the install, and an App Store link with Apple's campaign tokens.

Free. No account, no email.

Where the link is placed: newsletter, instagram, partner-site.

The kind of channel: email, social, cpc, qr.

The name you will look for in your reports.

The paid keyword, if there is one.

Tells two links in the same place apart.

Tags are added to the address. Tags already there are replaced.

Package name or Google Play address.

App Store ID or address.

A number, from App Store Connect.

Defaults to the campaign above.

Web page

Fill in the form to build this link.

Read by Google Analytics and most other analytics tools when the page loads.

Google Play

Fill in the form to build this link.

The tags travel inside the referrer parameter. Your app reads them after the install with the Play Install Referrer library.

App Store

Fill in the form to build this link.

Counted as a campaign in App Analytics, in App Store Connect. Apple does not hand these tokens to your app.

Why there are three links

Campaign tags only work when something reads them, and each destination reads them differently.

DestinationHow the tags travelWho reads them
Web pageutm_ parameters on the addressThe analytics script on the page
Google PlayThe same parameters, encoded once more inside referrerYour app, after the install, through the Play Install Referrer library
App StoreApple's own tokens: pt (your provider ID) and ct (the campaign)App Store Connect only. Your app is told nothing.

The mistakes this avoids

  • Tags pasted straight onto a Play address. …details?id=com.example.app&utm_source=x is silently dropped. The tags must sit inside referrer, percent-encoded, which is what this tool writes.
  • Only half of Apple's pair. A link with ct and no pt, or the other way round, is not counted as a campaign.
  • Mixed spelling. Email, email and e-mail become three rows in a report. Pick one and write it down.
  • Tags after the fragment. Anything after # never reaches the server. This tool keeps the fragment last.

Need one address that picks the right store by itself? The free store link does that.

A DL2App link stores its campaign tags once, counts taps and installs by campaign, and hands the tags to your app through the SDK, so one short link does the work of these three.
