Make a QR code that is yours

Type a link, pick a style, download. The code holds your address itself, so it can never expire or be switched off by anyone, including us.

Free. No account, no email.

The code holds exactly this. It does not pass through our servers, so it cannot be edited or counted later.

Higher survives more dirt and wear, with smaller dots.

Pixels across.

This sample points at example.com. Type your own link to replace it.

25 modules across. Print it at least 20 mm wide.

Nothing in this design should make it hard to scan.

Try the full designer

This is the DL2App QR designer with its real options, working on a sample code. Play with it here. To put your own link in a design and download it, create a free account: the designer is on the free plan.

This sample does not hold your link, so it is not for printing.

Also in this part of the designer

  • Save your own design as a brand kit and reuse it on every code.

With an account, every design is tested with a real scan before you download it, as SVG, PNG or PDF. The code points at a DL2App link, so you can send it somewhere new after it is printed, and scans are counted.

Before you print

  • Scan it with two phones, one of them old. A screen is the easiest surface a code will ever be on.
  • Keep the white border. Scanners find the code by the quiet space around it. Do not crop it or run artwork up to the edge.
  • Dark on light. Many scanners cannot read a light pattern on a dark background.
  • Use SVG for print. It stays sharp at any size. PNG is for screens and for tools that do not take SVG.
  • Size follows distance. A code is comfortably scanned from about ten times its width: 3 cm on a flyer in the hand, 30 cm on a poster across a room.

Fixed codes and changeable codes

This tool writes your address straight into the pattern. That is the honest kind of free code: there is nothing between the scan and your page, so nobody can add an advert, a sign-up wall or an expiry date later. The cost is that it can never be changed. If the address moves, every printed copy is wrong.

A changeable code holds a short link instead, and the short link decides where to go. For an app, the free store link gives you one code that sends each phone to its own store, with no account, though its two destinations are fixed as well.

A code made here is fixed forever. A DL2App link has a code you can re-point after it is printed, that opens your app on each phone, that counts scans, and a designer with logos, frames, pictures and a real scan test.
