Follow a link, one redirect at a time

Paste a link. We request it four times, as an iPhone, an Android phone, a computer and Instagram's browser, and show every redirect and where each one lands.

Free. No account, no email.

StatusWhat it means for a link people tap
301, 308Permanent. Browsers remember it, so changing the destination later does not reach people who already tapped it.
302, 303, 307Temporary. Asked again on every tap, which is what a link you intend to edit or count should use.
200A page, not a redirect. If the visitor still ends up somewhere else, a script or a meta refresh on the page moved them.
403, 404, 5xxThe chain broke here. If only one device gets it, the server is treating that device differently.

What this cannot show

These requests come from our server, wearing each device's user agent. That shows exactly what your link serves. It cannot show the last step on a real phone: whether iOS or Android then hands the link to your app. For that, the link checker tests the association files that decide it, and lists what still needs a tap on a real device.

Following stops after five redirects, at any address that is not public, and at any link to a store or an app scheme, which is reported as the destination.

A DL2App link answers each device differently on purpose: the app or the right store for phones, a page with a button inside in-app browsers that ignore redirects, and your website for computers.
