Links on a hostname you own
A custom domain puts your links on a hostname such as go.yourapp.com. Every plan includes at least one. It is the single most useful thing you can do for the long life of your links: a hostname you own can be pointed anywhere, so links and printed QR codes can move with you.
How it works
- 01
Add the hostname
A subdomain, or a whole domain you keep only for links.
- 02
Create the DNS record the page shows
Once DNS points at us, a certificate is issued automatically and the domain turns verified.
- 03
Add it to your app
To the associated domains on iOS and the intent filters on Android, then release an app update.
What is included
- Links are written with your domain by default once it is verified.
- Your
dl2.appaddresses keep working alongside it. The same slug works on every host of the project. - Certificates renew by themselves, including while a team is read-only.
- If you leave, repoint the DNS record at your own server running the self-host bundle from your export.
Where it stops
- Don’t use the bare domain your website is on: once it points here, every address on it is a link.
- Until users have the app update that adds the new host, it opens the store or web page instead of the app.
- A link on
yourapp.dl2.appis on our hostname and cannot move with you.
